Bachelor of Science in Public Health
The Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a concentration in Health Behavior and Health Promotion is designed for students interested in disease prevention and helping people and communities adopt healthy behaviors and healthy lifestyles. The Public Health major will prepare students for careers in public health including worksite health promotion specialists, community health education, and jobs in public-health agencies and community-based organizations. In addition, the program is applicable for students interested in pursuing further study in health fields such as medicine, physical or occupational therapy, dental hygiene or public health.
The B.S. in Public Health is an exciting and diverse major concerned with prevention of disease and promotion of health in communities. If you choose public health, you will learn how to develop and implement health programs, develop health policies, and engage in an ecological approach to disease prevention and health promotion. Aspects of environmental issues, health policy, health behavior and social determinants of health are explored.
Students are provided with opportunities to connect classroom learning with actual research or "hands-on" experiences through courses such as practicum and internships.
